This film is based on the rumor about Hanako-san. Hanako-san is hiding in the toilet room of school, and attacks someone who enters into the toilet room. There was the rumor when I was young. And Hanako-san is evil in those days. But recently Hanako-san becomes a good character and her charming illustration becomes popular. In a former Hanako-san film, Hanako-san is good ghost. But Mr. Takahashi Hiroshi, a writer of this film and "Ring" (1998), "Joyuu rei", describes Hanako-san very evil. However, This film reminds me of a blood-curdling comic. It is "Watshi no ningyou wa yoi ningyou (trans. My Doll is Good Doll)" by Yamagishi Ryouko. Of course, a mysterious Japanese doll appears in both. "I heard that the doll used to put in the coffin when the child is dead. Because other children will be took to another world by the child for its loneliness.", said a girl in this film. In "Watashi no ningyou wa yoi ningyou", a character said so. But I won't tell about the resemblance between this film and Yamagishi's comic. I tell only that... I am afraid of dolls!
